Yvaga III is an all-new planet that was introduced in fictional planets outside of Earth being the setting of Alien stories. Although the characters are never shown to actually be on Yvaga III in Alien: Romulus, the end of the film teases that Rain and Andy may be making it to the distant and mysterious planet soon.

Alien: Romulus is the newest film in the Alien franchise, with the film taking place between Alien and Aliens. The movie manages to perfectly bridge the gap between Ridley Scott's original Alien series and his Prometheus prequel series, with the film's point in the timeline connecting some of the major story elements from each Alien saga. However, Alien: Romulus also seems to be setting up a future of its own, with the film ending as Rain and Andy head to the planet of Yvaga III, one that could be the setting for a potential Alien: Romulus 2.

Yvaga III Is A Fully Terraformed Planet Beyond Weyland-Yutani's Control

The Alien Franchise's Villains Have No Presence There

Although Yvaga III is never truly seen in Alien: Romulus, a lot is revealed about the planet, mostly from Rain and the other characters on LV-410. According to Rain, Yvaga III is a paradise, one full of lush greenery and nature, something that seems foreign compared to the smog and industry of the Jackson's Star mining colony. According to the characters in Alien: Romulus, Yvaga III has been fully terraformed, meaning that the planet has been developed to have an Earth-like atmosphere and environment that allows humans to inhabit it safely.

While these details do make Yvaga III sound like a paradise, the most important detail about the planet is that it is beyond Weyland-Yutani's control. The Weyland-Yutani Corporation is the overarching villain of the Alien franchise, with the megacorp managing to establish control over most of the known universe. Almost anywhere where humans can be found in the Alien franchise, Weyland-Yutani is there, making them nearly impossible to escape.

For unexplained reasons, however, the Weyland-Yutani Corporation has no control on Yvaga III. It is never revealed how the planet of Yvaga III managed to get off the ground while keeping Weyland-Yutani out, with these details being left vague. However, the fact that Weyland-Yutani is absent from Yvaga III makes the planet an incredibly desirable destination for those who work for the corporation, including Rain and Andy.

Rain & Andy Go To Yvaga III To Start A New Life After Alien: Romulus

It Was Rain's Goal From The Very Beginning

Throughout Alien: Romulus, Rain and Andy's main goal is to get to Yvaga III, and they have two different plans to do this. At the beginning of the film, Rain and Andy had been working for Weyland-Yutani for an unspecified amount of time. Rain finally reached the point where she would be eligible for a transfer to Yvaga III, but after submitting a request, she learned that she had more service hours added to her total. This led to her taking part in the plan to steal the cryopods from the Romulus space station, leading to the events of Alien: Romulus.

By the end of the film, most of Alien: Romulus' characters are dead, with Rain and Andy being the lone survivors. The film ends with Rain, Andy, and the black goo from Prometheus on board a ship en route for Yvaga III, with them presumably arriving on the planet sometime after the credits rolled. According to Alien: Romulus, Yvaga III is about nine years away from LV-410, meaning that the duo will wake up from cryosleep and arrive on the planet nearly a decade after the tragic events on board the Romulus space station.

Yvaga III Does Not Allow Synthetics

Meaning That Andy Is Banned From The Planet

Things won't be easy immediately for Rain and Andy on Yvaga III, as the duo faces one major problem: Yvaga III doesn't allow synthetics. Due to Yvaga III being totally independent from the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, the planet has outlawed any Weyland-Yutani products in an attempt to prevent them from getting a hold on the planet. This includes all syntehtics, as Weyland-Yutani is the only known corporation that develops the Alien androids. Rain manages to keep this detail a secret from Andy for most of the film, although he eventually finds out the truth.

Despite knowing about the rule on Yvaga III, Rain decides to take Andy along anyway. Rain will undoubtedly receive some pushback for bringing Andy to Yvaga III, especially because she also has the black goo with her. If Alien: Romulus 2 ever does happen, this will undoubtedly be a major part of the story, with Andy either trying to convince Yvaga III to allow synthetics or attempting to hide Andy's true nature from the planet's inhabitants. However, it is doubtful that Rain would leave her synthetic brother behind, meaning that she will be fighting for him on Yvaga III.

Yvaga III Is Not Likely The Paradise Andy & Rain Think It Is

It May Be Terrifying For Rain & Andy

Although Rain and Andy perceive Yvaga III as being a paradise, it is likely that this isn't the case. In an interview with an Alien: Romulus sequel might be about, with him then going on to discuss Yvaga III. The director seems to be interested in the idea that Yvaga III isn't what Andy and Rain think it is, with him replying to the question in this way:

For us, movies have not become franchises, tentpoles and sequels. This is a language that I’ve only learned in the last ten years of my life working here. For me, it’s always been about story. So, once we finished, we started thinking, “What do you think happens when or if they get to Yvaga? Is it going to be great? Or is it a terrible place?” We tend to believe it’s probably a terrible place that they think is great and fantasize about, so we naturally started thinking about where it goes and what’s going to happen. And then, a few minutes in, we go, “Oh, that sounds like a sequel.”

So, it looks like things won't be getting much better for Rain and Andy anytime soon. It is possible that Yvaga III is already a disaster, or it is possible that Rain and Andy's arrival on Yvaga turns the planet into a disaster. After all, the ship they are driving on contains the black goo that decimated a planet in Alien: Covenant. Their arrival to Yvaga III could signal doom to the planet, with a potential Alien: Romulus sequel turning the ending of the first film incredibly dark.
