Per The Hollywood Reporter, Alien: Earth will arrive on Hulu and the FX channel at 8 PM with a two-episode premiere on August 12, with new episodes releasing every Tuesday. Alongside the release schedule, a new synopsis was also unveiled that teases a clash between humanity, synthetics, and the emerging horror of the Xenomorphs, alongside new images of several cast including Olyphant's android Kirsch, and Lawther's Hermit alongside fellow soldiers Siberian and Rashidi, played by Diem Camille and Moe Bar-El. Check out the synopsis and images below:

In the year 2120, the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. In this Corporate Era, cyborgs (humans with both biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence) exist alongside humans. But the game is changed when the wunderkind Founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation unlocks a new technological advancement: hybrids (humanoid robots infused with human consciousness). The first hybrid prototype named “Wendy” marks a new dawn in the race for immortality. After Weyland-Yutani’s spaceship collides into Prodigy City, “Wendy” and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined.

What Alien: Earth's Synopsis Reveals About The Prequel Series

The Series Is Bringing Together Common Themes From Several Later Installments

With Alien: Earth's new synopsis, it is clear that the series will tap into several elements from across the franchise's history within its season-long narrative. The development of Prodigy's new hybrids and the technological arms race to develop advancements that can prolong human life aligns with the goal of Peter Weyland (Guy Pearce) in Prometheus to meet what he assumed were humanity's creators to prevent himself from dying. Furthermore, Alien: Romulus showed that Weyland-Yutani would use samples of the black goo in hopes that it could mutate humans to survive in extreme circumstances to further expansion and colonization efforts.

Alien: Earth is a hugely exciting entry in the sci-fi franchise, but its existence may cause some problems for the series' complicated timeline.

As such, it appears that this race to find the best way to extend a human life will play a key part within the series' narrative. While Prodigy may be outpacing their competitors with their hybrids, their absence in the original franchise could show that Weyland-Yutani's incident may completely shift the priorities of Earth's corporations. Furthermore, any incidents involving synthetics can lay the groundwork for the rise in resistance against the technology that is seen in later installments, both as companies such as Weyland-Yutani turn their attentions to other potential frontiers and the public opinion sours.

Our Thoughts On Alien: Earth's New Plot Details

Hawley's Prequel Could Be Setting Up A Larger Story

The little mouth shooting out of the Xenomorph's mouth in Alien Earth teaser

Between a technological arms race between corporations for domination in the creation of synthetics, their potential societal implications, and the arrival of the Xenomorphs, Alien: Earth seemingly has an incredibly dense and expansive story. While this may cause some concern to people who feel eight episodes may not be enough to cover the entirety of the premise's scope, Hawley has previously stated that considerations have been made to go beyond a single season. As such, Alien: Earth's arrival in August may only be the first chapter in a longer narrative that leads into the first movie.
