Jean Trebek, wife of the late announcement of Trebek's death at the age of 80 this past Sunday. Trebek, a Canadian by birth, hosted the nightly quiz show for 37 years, from its revival in 1984 up until this year. Trebek had just begun work on the latest season of the show before his ing, and had been contracted to stay on until 2022.

He ed after a long battle with pancreatic cancer, which was revealed in a video in early 2019. Trebek later revealed he had responded incredibly well to treatment and credited his fans and ers for his good recovery. Unfortunately, in the end he couldn't overcome the disease, and the world lost a TV legend. His final episode as Jeopardy host will air on Christmas Day, a fitting end for a career that was unequalled in TV history. Trebek was a Guinness world record-holder as host of movie TV game show episodes, and the quality of his hosting never dimmed, in spite of his advancing years.

Now, Trebek's wife, Jean, has taken to Instagram to pay tribute to him following his ing. Posting an image of the couple wearing matching white outfits on their wedding day, Jean also took the opportunity to thank Trebek's fans for all of their messages of condolence and outpourings of love following his ing. Jean, who was Trebek's second wife, was married to the TV host for 30 years, raising two children with him. Her previous post featured their two adult children, Emily and Matthew, where she posted how thankful she was to share time with them. Earlier this year, Jean shared an essay about the events leading up to Trebek's cancer diagnosis, and this latest tribute is a touching acknowledgement of how much she and Alex appreciated the of fans during his battle with the disease.

Trebek's ing has indeed garnered a number of tributes, including one on the show itself, with executive producer Mike Richards paying a heartfelt and emotional tribute to Trebek on Monday's episode of the show. The outpouring of love, mingled with grief, is a testament to the effect Trebek had on many people's lives, with Jeopardy! becoming a daily routine for many, and contestants, like Ken Jennings, becoming celebrities in their own right.
