Aldis Hodge's Hawkman should continue in DC Studios plans for the DCU. Carter Hall, a.k.a. Hawkman, made his big-screen debut in Black Adam as the leader of the Justice Society of America. In Black Adam, Hodge's Hawkman leads the JSA to put a stop to Dwayne Johnson's anti-hero from Kahndaq, Teth-Adam, but they soon come to have a common enemy in the new villain Sabbac (Marwan Kenzari).

While Black Adam saw the long-awaited return of Henry Cavill's Man of Steel, DC Studios looks set to take the franchise in a new direction with Cavill unexpectedly departing as Superman once again. It remains unclear exactly how much the cast and story of the DCU will shift under DC Studios co-head James Gunn, with some cast potentially staying in their roles. If the future DCU elects to retain of its original cast, Aldis Hodge's Hawkman should definitely be one of them.

Aldis Hodge's Hawkman Was One Of The Best Parts Of Black AdamAldis Hodge as Hawkman in Black Adam

Hawkman was one of the breakout characters of Black Adam, shown as a veteran hero and stalwart leader of the JSA. Hodges's performance in the role shared the confidence and power exuded by Henry Cavill's Superman as a hero with an unbreakable moral code. This made Hodge's Hawkman a strong pillar against Johnson's Black Adam, the two representing polar opposite heroes in every way. Additionally, like Doctor Fate's helmet and costume, Hawkman's Nth metal armor and wings were masterfully brought to life from the pages of the comics.

Additionally, Hawkman was a major standout in Black Adam's action scenes. Hodge's portrayal of Hawkman showed him as a skilled warrior who could hold his own against even an immeasurably powerful enemy like Black Adam. For a superhero making his cinematic debut in another character's movie, Hawkman left an undeniably amazing impression in Black Adam.

How Hawkman Can Be A Part Of DCU's Future

With DC preparing to open the doors of the multiverse in Black Adam does not show Hawkman's reincarnation powers, Hodge's version being Carter Hall indicates he is the former.

By showing the Katar Hol version of Hawkman in a different universe, Hodge's return could really show both sides of the character. Hodge's dual versions of Hawkman could even meet at some point to show the true breadth of the DC canon on film. While it is important for DC not to rely on the multiverse as a crutch after The Flash, it could be the key to allowing Aldis Hodge to continue as Hawkman while technically playing a whole new character.
