New concept art has been revealed ahead of Ahsoka's premiere, revealing more details about the mysterious temple ruins from the show's trailers. Visiting some sort of ancient temple, Ahsoka (Rosario Dawson) is seen facing off with a collection of assassin droids before entering an underground chamber. However, the origins of these ruins have yet to be revealed, nor the reason why Ahsoka's there in the first place.

Thanks to new images from concept artist Matt Allsopp posted on Twitter, new artwork from the Ahsoka show features these ruins in greater detail. This includes some intriguing markings and writings carved into the walls and pillars. The images can be viewed below:

For Star Wars fans familiar with EA's Jedi video game series, the carvings on the pillars in particular carry a strong resemblance to the Zeffo, an ancient Force-sensitive species in the Star Wars canon who left behind ancient tombs all over the galaxy, having predated the Jedi Order.

How Old Is Ahsoka's Mysterious Temple - And Why Is She There?

Star Wars Ahsoka With Temple Ruins

If these ruins are indeed older than the Jedi, it stands to reason that this ancient temple could belong to the Zeffo. However, there have also been rumors and theories about the equally ancient Rakatan Empire having a role in Ahsoka as well. Both races fled to the Unknown Regions of space as their respective times in the galaxy diminished. As such, either could connect to the return of Grand iral Thrawn, the brilliant Imperial leader who's set to return from the very same Unknown Regions in the Star Wars show.

As far as the reason why Ahsoka Tano is exploring these ruins (whomever they may have belonged to), they may carry some key information the former Jedi can use to find Thrawn in the Unknown Regions. After all, ancient temple ruins typically carry hidden secrets or powers more often than not. Thankfully, Star Wars fans won't have to wait long to see what Ahsoka will learn from these mysterious ruins with Ahsoka's two-episode premiere streaming August 23rd on Disney+.
