Rosario Dawson has revealed that Togruta is known for her distinctive montrals, cone-like horns on her head, and these proved to be a challenge.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Rosario Dawson revealed they're still a work-in-progress - and the latest update has just been made.

"The headgear has changed, you know, we went from this foam piece that we used to attach sort of in the back of the neck to now this 3D printed piece that, you know, has like almost a skeleton inside of it that you can hear and the movement of it, the texture of it is so different. I'm constantly like… it's like having long hair, you know, like we just did a camera test and I'm back to the same sort of physicalities and just it becomes like this cocoon, you know, you put the context and the costume and everything and it's, it just kind of puts you into a whole other zone so I really appreciate for all the fans who come out here and put on the costume and get ready because it is not an easy process so that is commitment."

Ahsoka's Montrals Have Changed A Lot Over The Years

Making a live-action Ahsoka Tano was undoubtedly a challenging experience for ILM, and many viewers complained about their design in The Mandalorian season 2 and The Book of Boba Fett. Togruta montrals are supposed to get longer as they age, meaning Ahsoka's should have been much longer, but they were too restrictive for action scenes. The montrals were improved significantly for Ahsoka season 2, giving Dawson longer montrals that were still flexible, but it sounds as though they're still being modified now.

While this does lead to a degree of visual inconsistency, it's pleasing to see Lucasfilm continue to develop the design. The goal is undoubtedly to make the live-action Ahsoka as accurate to showrunner Dave Filoni's vision as possible, meaning the VFX team will continue to refine it. These refinements should serve to help with future adaptations as well.

Dave Filoni's Love For Ahsoka Shines Through In The Improvements

Dave Filoni co-created Ahsoka Tano alongside George Lucas himself, and even he openly its she's his favorite character. He was the one who designed her - Lucas designed the worst part of Ahsoka's original costume, her weird miniskirt and crop top - and he loved Ahsoka so much he brought her back in Star Wars Rebels, found a way to resurrect her after a Darth Vader duel, and is now producing live-action Ahsoka. It's unsurprising to see Ahsoka season 2 continues to change the character, improving her markedly.
