Grand iral Thrawn's return may be, there are so many other thrilling ideas in play in Ahsoka as well.
Surprisingly, inscriptions seen on Peridea in Ahsoka episode 6 secretly link the planet to the Zeffo, an ancient race investigated by Jedi Master Eno Cordova in Jedi: Fallen Order. The words are written in ur-Kittât, an ancient language adopted by the Sith because of its link to the dark side, also known as the Old Tongue. They're not easy to translate, though; they've been flipped 180 degrees, just to make them trickier. Still, fan Tommy Wall successfully translated them on Twitter. They read:
P)RAISE KUJET RULER OF ALL MAY HIS REIGN LAST FOR AL...
Kujet was an ancient Zeffo who fell to the dark side, and once ruled Dathomir. It seems he ruled Nightsisters across the entire galaxy, because he is also honored at Peridea.
This is more than just an Easter egg, though. This draws the threads of Star Wars' forgotten history together, because it means Ahsoka is unknowingly continuing Eno Cordova's quest into the fate of the Zeffo.
The Future Of Star Wars Lies In The Ancient Past - And Jedi: Fallen Order Set It Up
The fate of the Zeffo remains one of the greatest mysteries in Star Wars. It now seems Kujet, the most powerful of the Zeffo, was ruler of an intergalactic empire. His death didn't just mark the beginning of the decline of Zeffo culture; it also led to the collapse of this empire, with across the galaxies presumably coming to an end. In Jedi: Survivor, Eno Cordova revealed his attempts to track the Zeffo came to nothing because they traveled to the Outer Rim and vanished; they presumably disappeared into the intergalactic void, never to return.
The future of Star Wars clearly lies in its ancient past. Jedi: Fallen Order and Ahsoka have together given important peices of the puzzle, hinting at a forgotten history at far greater scale than anyone had previously imagined. No doubt more will be revealed as Ahsoka continues, especially if Baylan is right about something powerful awakening on Peridea.
Ahsoka releases new episodes Tuesdays at 6 pm PT / 9 pm ET on Disney+.
