episode, audiences eagerly await next week's final episodes of the excellent series. Unfortunately, some characters poised to be a major threat to the coven appear to have been done away with entirely.
The MCU has seen a series of powerful Marvel villains for the heroes to face throughout the years. Some of these characters have been terrifying, like Dormammu, while others have been brutal and clever, like Thanos. It has become clear through the years that ensuring an excellent villain has been a major part of the success of the best Marvel projects. However, building up these characters long-term, like was done with Loki, can tend to make these foes even more effective.
Agatha All Along Just Killed Off The Salem Seven After Doing Nothing With Them
The Salem Seven Were Set To Be A Major Threat To The Coven Of Chaos
Unfortunately, the Salem Seven appear to be done with already after Lilia killed them in the latest episode of Agatha. While the Salem Seven were barely explained in the show, the terrifying foes could have been a much larger part of the story. Linked to Agatha and her son, Nicholas Scratch, these characters were barely used before being disposed of entirely. Their names weren't even revealed to the audience. Seeing their animal powers used so sparingly was disappointing, and many hoped they would contribute to an explosive climax.
Fortunately, the death of these villains served an excellent story purpose. The ending of episode 7 saw Lilia Calderu defeating the Salem Seven before succumbing to Death herself. While it may have been an underwhelming end for what seemed to be an incredible set of seven potentially deep and meaningful villains, this did contribute to Lilia's evocative story and did give her an incredible ending. By saving the coven, Lilia has given herself a graceful and powerful sacrifice.
Agatha All Along Repeats An Age-Old MCU Complaint
Many MCU Villains Are Underutilized
One of the biggest audience complaints about Marvel villains is that the foes are dispatched and defeated far too quickly, wasting their potential. While the heroes are given a great deal of time across many movies and television shows to develop their characters, most Marvel villains only make a single appearance before being handily defeated by the team. Incredible characters like Gorr the God Butcher, Kaecilius, and Red Skull were severely underused as villains compared to their comic book stories, leading to some disappointment for audiences.
Fortunately, it seems that Marvel recognizes this is an issue and is attempting to rectify it. Agatha herself could have been a one-and-done villain, but the franchise gave her a titular series. Ultron's MCU return could be a sign of things to come, where villains are given another opportunity to realize their comic book roots in multiple projects in future phases. Even Taskmaster and Ghost are set to return in Thunderbolts*. Still, the sudden death of the Salem Seven feels like throwing these villains away, and it's not a great sign for things to come.
The MCU Has Solved Its Villain Problem, And Hopefully Death Is The Answer
Rio Vidal's Identity Has Been Unveiled And It Is A Significant One
Fortunately, Agatha All Along has plans for another Marvel villain, as was shown in the latest episode. The reveal indicates that Rio Vidal is actually the MCU's personification of Lady Death. This is an exciting detail that has been cleverly seeded and teased throughout the series' run. Following this, the show can potentially introduce an incredibly powerful force to the MCU that could live on in the franchise for some time. With Aubrey Plaza's charisma and star power, Lady Death could possibly become integral to the franchise.
If Rio Vidal's continued story as Lady Death is done well, she has the potential to be one of the greatest and most powerful villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the comics, Lady Death has links to characters like Thanos and Deadpool, and using these links to create an embedded character in the franchise could be a satisfying resolution to all of these disposable villains. Indeed, as the manifestation of such an incredible and powerful force as death, much can be done with the character in all kinds of future Marvel projects.

All 7 Of Lilia Calderu’s Tarot Cards In Agatha All Along Meanings Explained
Throughout Agatha All Along, Lilia Calderu referenced seven tarot cards, and episode 7 finally revealed their full meanings and purpose.
Marvel villains are an important part of the series' storytelling, and it is exciting to see such a major force be introduced in the latest series. Alongside suggestions of characters like Mephisto, it seems that Agatha may leave many significant marks on the franchise as a whole. Despite killing off the Salem Seven so quickly, it seems that Agatha All Along has plans for the universe's future. Hopefully, audiences will get a better understanding of this trajectory in the series finale.
