An Animal Crossing: New Horizon's -generated creations have continuously taken the internet by storm. And, of course, many of the in-game creations took inspiration from popular culture, with players creating everything from the Schitt's Creek motel room to a replica of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild's Fort Hateno.

A social simulation game series, Animal Crossing first launched in the early 2000s with its debut adventure releasing on the Nintendo 64 and GameCube. Several mainline sequels and spinoff entries followed in its wake, carving out a niche like none other in the Nintendo ecosystem. But it wasn't until New Horizons' 2020 release on the Switch that Animal Crossing as a whole hit the stratosphere. As of December 31, 2021, the title has moved a staggering 37-plus million units worldwide. ACNH remains the second best-selling Switch game, too, and recently dethroned Super Mario Bros. on Famicom to become the top-selling video game in Japan to date. Given the title's popularity, it should come as no surprise that players continue to find new ways of making their own fun.

Over the weekend, Reddit thelordofgifts (via GameRant) posted a screenshot of the Crash Bandicoot-like jungle area they built for an in-game island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. The build includes bouncing mushrooms, TNT explosives, and even a stack of question mark boxes, the latter of which thelordofgifts designed with New Horizons' cube lights. This particular area of the island certainly captures the spirit of the beloved platformer series. Check it out in the image linked below:

Thelordofgifts' Crash Bandicoot-inspired creation features just about everything one needs to set the mood, barring the Bandicoot himself. It's an incredible build to say the least, which undoubtedly took a significant amount of time to complete, especially when considering the smaller details that don't appear so obvious at first glance. For instance, to the left of the TNT, positioned perfectly under a tree, sits a lone apple.

After months of silence about the future of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Nintendo rounded out 2021 by unleashing Happy Home Paradise, a DLC offering that allows players to design vacation homes for interested villagers. As the first and only paid expansion for ACNH, Happy Home Paradise made a world of difference for the game's player community. The same holds true for its final major update, Version 2.0, which went live last November and introduced new items and characters such as fan-favorite Animal Crossing NPC Brewster.
