After months of speculation, DC Comics has revealed details about the first wave of its massive Absolute Power event, which will pit the Justice League against some of its most nefarious villains in recent memory. With a main event series, tie-in issues, and a handful of miniseries, check out Screen Rant's comprehensive reading order of Absolute Power's first wave, which begins in May and ends in July.
Ahead of July solicitations, DC Comics has announced its full plans for the first wave of Absolute Power, its blockbuster 2024 summer event. After more than a full year of scheming, Amanda Waller unleashes her plan to control and eliminate the perceived "metahuman threat" — a plan that includes targeting the Justice League with her upgraded versions of the classic League villain, Amazo.
Waller's schemes also include the other two of DC's "Trinity of Evil": Failsafe and Brainiac Queen. As previously announced, Absolute Power is anchored by an event series by DC heavyweights Mark Waid and Dan Mora, but the publisher has released details about the event's many tie-ins, one-shots, and miniseries. Check out Screen Rant's rundown of Absolute Power's first wave, from Free Comic Book Day to the end of July.
While fans have been anticipating the Waid-and-Mora-led Absolute Power event, the new details about the tie-in issues and miniseries offer a tantalizing glimpse at what readers can expect this summer.

The Justice League Needs a New Leader, and 1 Surprising Hero Deserves the Role
The Justice League needs a new leader in their ranks, and one potential prospect has secretly been primed for the role several years in advance.
DC's Absolute Power Event Spans Multiple Miniseries and One-Shots
The Massive Story Spans the Entire DC Universe
The seeds for Absolute Power have been sown since the very beginning of 2023's "Dawn of DC" initiative, during which Amanda Waller began to make her presence prominently known across the DC Universe — most especially in titles like Titans and Green Arrow. Meanwhile, Failsafe and Zur-En-Arrh have been plaguing Batman and the Bat-Family while Brainiac has started to make his move against the Superman Family in the ongoing 2024 crossover "House of Brainiac." All these villains will collide, as led by Waller, in Absolute Power, and fans can check out a much-needed recap in the Absolute Power FCBD Special Edition.
While fans have been anticipating the Waid-and-Mora-led Absolute Power event, the new details about the tie-in issues and miniseries offer a tantalizing glimpse at what readers can expect this summer. Absolute Power: Origins is especially intriguing as an "origin story" for the nefarious Amanda Waller, as it will give much-needed human context to Waller's anti-metahuman stance, as cruel as she may often seem. Along with this origin story, fans should check out the essential "prelude" to the main event, Absolute Power: Ground Zero #1.
Fans can see more of Amanda Waller's human side in Suicide Squad: Dream Team #2 by Nicole Maines, Eddy Barrows, Eber Ferreira, Adriano Lucas, and Becca Carey, available now from DC Comics.
Can the Justice League Survive Amanda Waller's Amazos?
The Classic Justice League Enemies Have New Life Thanks to the "Trinity of Evil"
Beyond Origins, the other stand-out tie-in series is Absolute Power: Task Force VII, a three-part biweekly series that will track the newly upgraded Amazo robots, as depicted on various covers above, as they terrorize the heroes of the DC Universe, including the Shazam Family, the Aquaman Family, and the Justice Society of America. Despite focusing on the disbanded of the Justice League, it looks like Absolute Power will feature countless heroes and villains across the DCU — the only question is how they will survive Waller's Amazo onslaught.
DC's summer event begins with Absolute Power 2024 FCBD Special Edition, available at select stores on Free Comic Book Day 2024 (May 4th) from DC Comics.
