This world's version of Hal Jordan and Jo Mullein know so little about their amazing new gifts, but now one hero is discovering the true power within them and what they can do with the Emerald Light.

Hal's Black Hand has killed several patrons. Things are getting tense between the two friends as neither knows how to control their power, and Hal constructs a gun to shoot at Jo.

Jo urges her friend to try and take control of the Black Hand and actually makes a giant fist construct to punch some sense into Hal. Jo floats before her defeated friend, glowing with Green Lantern energy, imploring him to take control before she does it for him.

Jo Mullein Has Become a Living Construct in Big Change to DC Lore

In the Darkseid-influenced Absolute Universe, the heroes face greater challenges than ever. For the Green Lanterns, there is no Corps, and the only alien people like Hal and Jo have come into with is Abin Sur, who visited their hometown and held its people hostage before ing on his 'gifts' to Mullein and Jordan. Jordan was cursed with the Black Hand, a living parasite that responds violently to fear and aggression, while Mullein has more familiar Green Lantern-like energy coursing through her. Unfortunately, neither party understands their power, nor what Abin Sur wanted with them in the first place.

The Absolute Universe is one where things are incredibly harder for DC's heroes. But that adversity has, ironically, helped them become even better, and possibly stronger heroes. Jo, for example, was thrown into the deep end with her powers, but in a matter of days, she's already tapped into her abilities in a way a rookie Green Lantern in the Prime DCU could only dream about. Sure, she just made a fist to start with. But if Jo can seriously become a living construct (as she appears to be), the Absolute Green Lantern could become the most powerful one yet.

The Absolute Universe is in desperate need of hard-hitters, right now. Sure, there are heroes like Superman and Wonder Woman around, too, but even with them on the side of good, the heroes are vastly outnumbered by villains. The world needs people like Jo, who clearly have a good heart, to get the firepower they need. Not only to help bring hope to an incredibly hopeless world, but to also stand against Darkseid when he inevitably makes his move. Hopefully, DC's new Green Lantern and her amazing powers will be ready to establish order in this wild universe.
