Riot Games' fighting game 2XKO (formerly Project L) is set for a 2025 release window, introducing a brand-new game featuring the many iconic characters from League of Legends. With a bright, flashy art style and fast-paced combat, there is no doubt that many will want to get their hands on this game to experience it for themselves. However, 2XKO is not the only fighting game set to come out during this release window, meaning that Riot Games has some very stiff competition ahead if it hopes to make its newest game a success.
2XKO is described as a free to play 2v2 team-based fighting game, and is set to feature numerous iconic champions from across the franchise, with multiple representatives from all regions of Runeterra. With so much exciting content in store, many League fans will want to get their hands on this game, but only time will tell if the rest of the gaming community will also be just as interested, or if they'll instead be more focused on what's still to come.
2XKO Will Release After Arcane's Final Season
A New Way To Experience These Iconic Characters
The characters from the show, including Jinx and Ekko. These recognizable faces will encourage many fans of the show to play 2XKO when they may not have previously even considered picking up a single fighting game in the past.

League of Legends Criticized For Introducing Arcane Skin That Will Cost Up To $250
Riot Games is being bashed by the League of Legends fanbase for their poor timing in introducing a potentially expensive skin amid company layoffs.
2XKO also has the added benefit of introducing fans of Arcane who aren't as familiar with the rest of League's massive roster to various other characters from the game franchise. Newcomers to the franchise can learn about iconic characters such as Ahri, Ilaoi, and Yasuo, while franchise veterans get to enjoy the years of hard work that it took to bring their favorite characters to life in an entirely new way.
2XKO Will Face Multiple Competitors Upon Release
2XKO Has Some Stiff Competition Ahead
Unfortunately for Riot Games, 2XKO is not the only fighting game that will be released in 2025. Multiple other fighting games from major franchises have been announced for release in the same year, including Capcom Fighting Collection 2 and Fatal Fury: City Of Wolves. If 2XKO has any hope of standing out from the crowd, then Riot Games needs to make sure it doesn't release around the same time as these other big names, unless the studio wants to risk it falling to the wayside.
Although 2XKO is set to have a lot in store for players with its exciting combat, its release window might not prove to be very beneficial. Despite the popularity of the many champions on the roster, if the game were to release anywhere around the same time as its competitors, it risks getting lost and possibly forgotten by many. Ultimately, only time will tell if this highly-anticipated League of Legends fighting game succeeds.
