The nominations for the 80th Golden Globe Awards were announced today. The Golden Globes are the TV and film awards ceremony put on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and are typically viewed as one of the best predictors of what films will get nominated for and win Oscars later in the awards season. Last year the HFPA found itself under fire for a lack of diversity in their small voting body and accusations of essentially allowing to be bribed by lavish parties and trips, leading to the ceremony not being televised. However, this year, after the HFPA underwent major internal changes, the ceremony will once again be televised on NBC on January 10, 2023.
Today, via Steven Spielberg drama The Fabelmans at six nominations. Read the full lists of nominees below:

Golden Globes 2023 Nominations Biggest Surprises & Snubs
Plenty of the usual suspects have returned in the television nominations, including Hacks, The White Lotus, and The Crown. However, the decorated HBO high school drama Euphoria, which cleaned house at the Emmys this year with six wins and 16 total nominations, only turned up one nomination for Zendaya, the first Golden Globe nod the series has ever received. Euphoria season 2 was released in January this year, which is a rough time for awards nominations because sometimes recency bias allows shows from that early in the running to drop off the radar. However, Pam & Tommy, which premiered in February, had a strong showing with four nominations overall.
There are quite a few surprises on the film front as well. Both Lesley Manville in Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris and Emma Thompson in Good Luck to You, Leo Grande are performances that haven't exactly been the buzziest this year. This won't necessarily translate to Oscar nods given the fact that the Academy doesn't have a Comedy category, but should either actress win it could make big waves in of her prospects. Also, while both films were expected to be somewhere on the slate this year, the six nominations for Everything Everywhere All At Once and two for the Tollywood breakout hit RRR spell very good news for their futures in awards season.
Overall, the full list of nominations for the 80th Golden Globes is looking about par for the course for this awards season. However, there are still a few snubs for films that have been circling the fringes. For instance, Luca Guadagnino's Bones and All, in which he reteams with his Oscar-nominated Call Me By Your Name lead Timothée Chalamet, wasn't nominated in any category. Other films that received no representation on this list despite early buzz include Till, Causeway, Pearl, Aftersun, and The Wonder.
