Fans haven't seen Mike Myers gave a cryptic message about Austin Powers 4. The 2000s is a treasure trove for comedies and unique and eccentric characters, and it isn't just Austin Powers who should make a return to the big screen.

As so many sequels to 80s and 90s movies are finally rising to the surface, regardless of whether or not it's too late, some 2000s comedies should follow suit. Between several stoner comedies, a parody of musical biopics, and a classic horror-comedy, Redditors want to see some great 2000s movies revived, and some of them would actually be more relevant now than ever.

Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story (2007)

Elvis, there's no more perfect time for a sequel than now. And even though Dewey dies at the end of the movie, the film is so outrageous and over-the-top that there are ways to bring him back.

Given how 2000s comedies starring Will Ferrell or John C. Reilly tend to have silly subtitles, the Redditor takes it upon themselves to give the sequel a name, "Walk Harder: The World Needs More Cox." The name is totally in keeping with the humor of the original movie, and it isn't hard to see that title scrawled over the poster of the legacy sequel.

Dude, Where's My Car? (2000)

Jesse and Chester wear hats with their names on in Dude, Where’s my Car

Dude, Where's My Car is one of the most immature and dumbest comedies of the 2000s, but it's still so irresistibly entertaining. the stoner comedy is undeniably underrated.

A sequel to the 2000 cult classic was actually in development years ago. According to The Independent, Ashton Kutcher confirmed there was a completed screenplay with the title Seriously Dude, Where's My Car, but it unfortunately never materialized. But with legacy sequels being more popular than ever, there's still hope yet.

Talladega Nights: The Ballad Of Ricky Bobby (2007)

Will Ferrell as Ricky Bobby in Talladega Nights

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby is long overdue. The Redditor even has an elevator pitch for the movie, positing, "Ricky (Will Ferrell) is elected to Congress where he continues to wear his driver's suit but it is covered in all the corporate sponsors that paid for his election."

The premise might be a little too similar to the political comedy The Campaign, as Ferrell plays Camden Brady, who competes with Martin Huggins to get a seat in Congress. However, a Talladega Nights sequel with any premise could be hilarious just as long as Ricky and Cal are reunited. And with Formula 1 being more popular than it has ever been before, a sequel could see Ricky trading in NASCAR for the Grand Prix and ing his frenemy, Jean Girard.

Team America: World Police (2004)

The puppet cast of Team America: World Police.

Team America: World Police, one of the bravest and cleverest satires of the 21st century. It's easy to argue that a Team America 2 should enter development more than any other comedy sequel given the current political climate, but it's also the unlikeliest to happen.

Even the Redditor its, "I've always wanted to ask Trey Parker if he would rather make another Team America, or burn 10 million dollars of his own money." However, given what the original concept was before this movie came out, it is possible that the creators - if ever up for it - could revamp the idea of a disaster sequel.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005)

Shane Black's one of the best crime comedies ever, and Kubrick1138 thinks the film needs a follow-up.

The Redditor posits, "It's the kind of film you wish had a sequel but you also don't want to ruin the magic. I just wish I could hear those voices together one more time." Harry and Perry made a great on-screen pairing, and Downey and Kilmer had great chemistry, but seeing them back together unfortunately just isn't possible anymore. However, The Nice Guys is somewhat of a spiritual sequel to the 2005 movie, as they're both written and directed by Shane Black, and both are murder mystery comedies.

Tropic Thunder (2008)

Ben Stiller's Apocalypse Now at the same time. A deleted  thinks a sequel to the 2008 movie would work as "A documentary of the making of Tropic Thunder."

The Redditor is referring to Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse, which was an in-depth making-of documentary about Apocalypse Now. The 's idea could work well, as it could feature all the fictional actors such as Tugg Speedman, Kirk Lazarus, and Jeff Portnoy, ing the events differently and coming up with hilariously conflicting stories.

Step Brothers (2008)

Will Ferrell and John C Reilly wearing tuxedos to an interview in Step Brothers

Ferrell and Reilly were an unstoppable duo in the 2000s, and doesn't deserve its bad Rotten Tomatoes score. And, according to AV Club, Ferrell actually pitched a sequel that saw Brennan and Dale following their parents to a retirement community.

2mustange wants to see a Step Brothers 2 more than anything and notes, "this is the kind of sequel that would add to the first." The Redditor is not wrong, and given that the first movie was all about how they didn't want to grow and get a job, it makes the sequel's premise about their early retirement that much funnier.

Shaun Of The Dead (2004)

Edgar Wright's Zombieland has gotten a sequel, fans have been waiting almost two decades for a follow-up. Yournewstepmom wants to see a sequel to the 2004 comedy, optimistically noting, "I would say a sequel for Shaun of the Dead isn't exactly out of question."

Writer-director Edgar Wright did work on a follow-up to the zombie classic, only it was based around vampires and had the working title "From Dusk Till Shaun," but it's one of many unrealized Wright projects. Unfortunately for the Redditor and thousands of other fans, it seems like Shaun of the Dead 2 is well and truly in development hell and won't be resuscitated any time soon.

Superbad

Superbad sequel and even has an idea of how to do it. They think the cast should be reunited by having them return to town for a class reunion. The Redditor adds, "They can work officer Slater and Michaels in by having the cops called for some reason. I just think if there was to be a Superbad sequel, this would be the form to do it."

This idea has been done before, and it didn't have great results, as the original American Reunion, and it was hated by critics. However, the original movie's fanbase still enjoyed seeing these characters back on-screen together, and there's a whole generation that would love to see McLovin using his real ID. The callbacks write themselves.
