20 Minutes Till Dawn is the newest iteration on 10 Minutes Till Dawn and has many similarities but is more fleshed out. 20 Minutes Till Dawn is like Vampire Survivors, only with more guns. In addition, there are more characters, upgrades, and weapons to choose from. There can be many combinations of characters and weapons, but the upgrades stay relatively consistent.
The upgrades unlocked during the game fit into a few different categories. There is damage, elemental damage, reload speed, attack speed, projectiles, movement speed, health, shield, and summoning. It sounds a little overwhelming, but the game feeds you the upgrades in a slower and more graspable way. Once players slay enough monsters and acquire XP, that's when 20 Minutes Till Dawn will offer upgrades.
There are a number of characters in 2o Minutes Till Dawn, but they will only have a high impact on the early game. Choosing a character with high health may be a good idea starting out so players can get a feel for the build they want. However, there is a more optimized way to build the character. There are two categories of upgrades that reign supreme in 20 Minutes Till Dawn, and they are elemental damage and standard damage. The standard damage tree, Power Shot, can lead to some excellent upgrades, as well as Reaper Rounds, which lets bullets pierce more enemies, especially when mixed with the elemental damage.
The Best Early Upgrades in 20 Minutes Till Dawn
Fire, Frost, and Lightning are the elemental upgrades available in 20 Minutes Till Dawn. Each of these upgrades are incredibly useful and pretty straightforward, so which one players upgrade first is a matter of preference. Electro Mage is probably the weakest among them because players cannot choose which enemy is affected by the lightning damage. Pyro Mage is next in of power, as players can control it more and have long-lasting burn effects on the enemies. Finally, Frost Mage is the strongest because it gives players something that the game tries very hard to take away: space to move. Freezing enemies is insanely helpful for getting out of tricky situations, and that's why the Frost Mage skill tree is so strong. For those who enjoy the magical elements in 20 Minutes Till Dawn, Vampire Survivors also has great magic-based combat.
Though those are the strongest upgrades in 20 Minutes Till Dawn, it does not mean they are the only viable choices. Some of the summons, like Light Weaponry, are very useful as it summons a magic dagger to follow the player and deal the same damage as bullets. Though it may also be enticing to upgrade health, acquiring high damage is the only way to survive for any meaningful length of time.
Upgrades like health and movement speed are best used when players feel comfortable with their build as a safety net. In 20 Minutes Till Dawn, damage is undoubtedly the main factor that will allow players to make it to the end. Once it gets to a point where some skill trees are maxed out, players will feel unstoppable. However, players should feel invited to experiment with their builds and find what works for them, similar to a Hades and its vast upgrade system.
