Amanda Halterman recently became a grandmother for the first time. The 44-year-old reality television star has been posting photos of her new grandson like any proud new grandma would. Amanda has been through a lot over the years, and she's been struggling with health issues recently, so this was a welcome arrival. Amanda didn't appear in the first few seasons of the unscripted show because she was going through a divorce. She had four sons with her ex-husband, Jason Halterman, and one of those sons just had a baby.

Amanda has had her share of ups and downs over the years. Her divorce was painful, but she had good things happen, too. She had bariatric surgery and lost a significant amount of weight. She fell in love with a man and moved to Florida, but it ended badly. A few months ago, she started a new relationship and seemed happy until a health scare sidelined the 1000-lb Sisters season 7 star. The recent birth of her grandson is another new chance at happiness.

Amanda's First Grandchild Was Born

The Slatons Welcomed Carter Lee Wayne Halterman

Amanda is very close to her adult sons, to the extent that it has caused problems with several of her siblings. While her sister, Tammy Slaton, was living with her, Amanda's sons were always around. It led to a big fight between Tammy and Amanda, who didn't speak for months. During 1000-lb Sisters season 7, Amanda lived with Amy Slaton, another sister. Her sons being around all the time caused drama between them as well. Now, one of Amanda's beloved sons has had his first child, and Amanda is over the moon with joy.
