Long before Nicholas Braun appeared in funniest characters to come out of Succession. Introduced as a high mascot at one of the Waystar parks, Greg somehow works his way up to the number two position of the CEO of the American subsidiary of GoJo. He has trouble speaking coherently, can't read a room, and rarely gives more than he takes, but it's hard not to love him.
Nicholas Braun was a new face for most Succession viewers when he appeared in the pilot episode, unless, of course, they had watched the underseen Sky High, his feature film debut. But between Sky High and Succession, Braun was quite active. He appeared in The Perks of Being a Wallflower as Ponytail Derek, Red State as Billy Ray, and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot as Tall Brian. Braun also had some success on TV, appearing in episodes of Cold Case, CSI, and Without a Trace. His biggest pre-Succession role was in a TV version of a classic teen film.
Nicholas Braun Starred In The TV Adaptation Of 10 Things I Hate About You
Braun Played Cameron James In The ABC Show
From 2009 to 2010, Nicholas Braun starred in the ABC Family adaptation of 10 Things I Hate About You, based on the 1999 movie of the same name, which was in turn based on the William Shakespeare play, The Taming of the Shrew. The series aired for 20 episodes over one long season before it was canceled, and generally followed the plot of the film, though stretched out over a longer time. Braun stars as Cameron James, a nerdy sophomore who is smitten with Bianca Stratford (Meaghan Martin), the new girl at school.

Succession: Cousin Greg’s Best Quotes
As one of the funniest characters in Succession, Greg has been the source of too many memorable quotes throughout the series.
However, the inexperienced Cameron mishandles the relationship and is quickly put in the friend zone with Bianca, who at first thinks he is gay, then resolves to find her friend a girlfriend. Even when Cameron its his love to Bianca, she gently but firmly rejects him. It's a pitiful moment for anyone who has ever been in a similar situation, but it's also a refreshing look at how men and women can remain friends, even when their expectations of one another prove to be too high or different from the reality.
How Braun's Cameron James Compares To Joseph Gordon-Levitt's
Braun's Version Of The Character Is More Nerdy Than Gordon-Levitt's
In the cast of the 1999 10 Things I Hate About You, Cameron James is played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, in an early film role for the actor. In this version, Cameron does get the girl. Bianca, played by Larisa Oleynik, at first rejects Cameron, like in the show, but by the end of the film, they've shared two kisses and are now dating. Gordon-Levitt's Cameron is a bit more savvy and self-confident than Braun's Cameron. While neither is high on the popularity pyramid, Gordon-Levitt's seems to be less of a stereotypical dork.
Cameron in the movie is also much more forward, responsible for a lot of the events that happen within the film.
It never feels in doubt that Cameron and Bianca will eventually get together in the movie, but in the show, you're never certain about how the relationship will unfold because of how different the two seem. Cameron in the movie is also much more forward, responsible for a lot of the events that happen within the film. By contrast, Braun's interpretation of the character is a lot quieter and unassuming. He's a little bit sweeter for it, even if it can be frustrating watching Braun's version make so many dating mistakes.
Why 10 Things I Hate About You Was Canceled
The Second Half Of The Show Lost A Lot Of Viewers
10 Things I Hate About You was abruptly canceled after the first season, leaving the series on an unfinished note. The show was canceled in the middle of the second ten-episode order, which aired between March 2010 and May 2010 (via Variety). The news was revealed by the show's executive producer, Carter Covington, on Twitter, where he wrote,
"Sad news… ABC Family canceled the show. Thanks to our amazing fans. You are the reason I do this."
The second block of episodes of 10 Things I Hate About You saw a dip in ratings, going from 1.3 million viewers with the 2009 episodes to roughly 983,000 viewers for the 2010 episodes (via TVSeriesFinale). While it was a bummer for fans, at least Nicholas Braun would return to television in a big way when he was cast as Greg Hirsch in Succession some eight years later.
