2023’s Transformers: Rise of the Beasts made its own healthy contribution to that overall total, and it’s now proving to be a hit on streaming as well, landing at #6 on Netflix’s weekly Top 10 English-language movies chart for the week of May 27-June 2, 2024. The movie logged 5.2 million views in its first week on the chart, and 11.1 million hours viewed, according to Netflix’s own data.

The franchise is one of the biggest in the world in of popularity, as evidenced by its massive worldwide box office gross, so it’s not hard to sell a new Transformers movie to Netflix subscribers. Rise of the Beasts may not be the biggest movie in the history of that franchise, but it did well enough at the box office to tee up a solid run on the streaming platform.

While Rise of the Beasts does offer a brand of action that’s familiar from the rest of the franchise, as well as loads of popular characters like Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, it also brings in new elements that could be intriguing to viewers. The film is the first in the series to incorporate the Transformers toy line’s Beast Wars sub-franchise, which could be a strong attraction. It also introduces new human characters, brought to vivid life by a strong cast, headed up by Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback and Luna Lauren Velez, who might be appealing to audiences.
