Marvel secretly confirms how powerful Gorr the God Butcher is in Thor: Love and Thunder through early merchandise. Thor has fought increasingly powerful opponents during his time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as his list of villains includes heavy-hitters like Loki, Malekith, Ultron, Hela and of course, the "Mad Titan" Thanos. While each of these villains have tested the God of Thunder in their own way, many have been excited to see how Phase 4's latest threat stacks up.

Gorr the God Butcher, played by Christian Bale, is confirmed to be the main villain of Thor: Love and Thunder. The character was introduced in the comics in 2012 as part of Jason Aaron's acclaimed run on Thor. Although Gorr wasn't originally an all-powerful villain worthy of fighting Thor Odinson, his fate changed after a chance encounter during a time of despair. Gorr grew up praying to the gods to help his people and planet, but watched everyone die instead. However, he eventually saw two gods fight and became a feared being after killing one of them. His title has made many fear for Thor's fate in Thor: Love and Thunder and wonder just how powerful Gorr will really be—especially compared to other MCU villains.

Early toys revealed for Thor: Love and Thunder secretly confirm Gorr's incredible threat level by showing him fight Thor Odinson and Mighty Thor. The LEGO set shows Jane Foster's Mighty Thor fighting Gorr the God Butcher in the air, while Thor Odinson is attacking him from below. It's also worth noting that Valkyrie and Korg are included in the set and could also be used to fight Thor 4's villain. With that in mind, Gorr is positioned to be powerful enough where it takes at least both versions of Thor to potentially try and take him down. It's an exciting tease of his power levels, especially since it means he's fighting heroes wielding a repaired Mjolnir and Stormbreaker. So far, Thanos is the only villain who has had to fight characters wielding both weapons at the same time, which puts Gorr the God Butcher's strength in elite MCU company.

One of the reasons Gorr is powerful enough to take on Thor and Mighty Thor at the same time is his use of Spider-Man: No Way Home leaves the door open for more symbiote stories in the MCU.

As powerful as Gorr appears to be in Thor: Love and Thunder early on, there is room for the movie to test his strength even more. This could include revealing he was responsible for killing the Celestial whose severed head became Knowhere, the Greek god Zeus, or Black Panther's god Bast. However, it might also involve Gorr fighting even more versions of Thor. In the comics, Gorr fought three Thors from different points in time: young Thor, regular Thor, and future King Thor. Thor: Love and Thunder could pull off a similar surprise and truly show just how powerful the villain is in the process.
