Supernatural continues to be immensely popular, as seen by the response to the reunion that will appear as part of The Boys season 5. Supernatural began airing back in 2005, and it wasn't long before the Winchester boys were household names that proved to be a sensational hit for viewers across various brackets. The show was such a success, in fact, that it ran for 15 seasons, releasing a new season every year, with an average of more than 20 episodes in every single season, before eventually wrapping up in 2020.
That's right, the show managed to keep thriving on The CW for 327 episodes, without getting canceled, outlasting its own creator, and only finishing due to the actors pursuing new projects after more than 15 years of their lives were dedicated to playing the same roles. However, ever since the show wrapped in 2020, fans have been crying out to see more of Sam, Dean, and Castiel, which is finally being paid off in an incredibly unusual way as the actors are all set to appear on another show on Prime Video.
The Boys Season 5 Unites Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki & Misha Collins
The Boys Are Back In The Boys Season 5
The Boys' final season is due to be released in 2026, and in earlier seasons, fans of the series were delighted to see Jensen Ackles, who played Dean Winchester in Supernatural, the cast as one of the original superheroes, Soldier Boy. Considering the fact that both shows were created by Eric Kripke, it was a wonderful moment to see the showrunner reunite with the star, and it led to speculation for Supernatural season 16 to potentially get some traction with the pair working together once again.
Now, as the series embarks on its final season, both Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins, who play Sam Winchester and Castiel respectively, are also ing for the final outing. The Supernatural trio teaming up again to work on another series is incredibly exciting for fans, including myself, and it's great to see them appear on another show from Kripke, but it does lead once again to questions about what could be in store for the future of these three actors and another Supernatural reunion.
Supernatural's Main Trio Reuniting In The Boys Means Season 16 Must Happen Eventually, Right?
Supernatural Fans Have Clearly Shown Up To Express Their Excitement
While Supernatural season 15 delivered a pretty definitive end to Supernatural, with Dean dying, and Sam growing old until he eventually ed his brother, the show has bent the rules on numerous occasions. And beyond that, the spin-off, The Winchesters, has already unveiled that the franchise was willing to break some rules and include these characters in new imaginative ways. Even more, the guys all appear to have fond memories of their time on the show, and would be keen to do something else with the Winchester boys.

If Supernatural Season 16 Happens Soon, We're Getting One Of The Greatest Head-To-Heads In TV History
If Supernatural season 16 happens any time soon, it could end up going head-to-head with another iconic TV show in the same spooky vein.
All of that considered, it seems like a no-brainer to bring it back for Supernatural season 16. Especially with the hype around the reunion happening in The Boys, with the teaser video on X, formerly Twitter, alone racking up over 16 million views. People are desperate to see more from Sam, Dean, and Castiel. And if The Boys has proven anything with their cheeky social post about getting a little more "supernatural," it is that the appetite for Supernatural fans has not dwindled in the slightest. We need more, and we need it now!
