Brilliant show

I think I'm in the minority in that I really enjoyed Titans and its take on some very familiar characters. I appreciated that the show went for a vastly different tone than something like Teen Titans, allowing it to stand on its own instead of the media with the characters people were most familiar with. The struggle for Dick Grayson, and really, all of his original teammates, to step out of the shadow of other heroes is a great storyline, and I do wish the show had done more with that idea. With so many of the characters introduced not being sidekicks to existing heroes though, it was hard for the show to keep going down that path.

Honestly, maybe my expectations were too high? Huge Titans fan as a kid. Nightwing is still one of my favorite heroes, watched Teen Titans religiously as a kid, but this? Not very fun, edgy for the sake of edginess.

From its very first teaser with Robin's "F--- Batman" line, we knew that Titans' entire goal was going to be dark and edgy. While that didn't always land and the series as a whole is fraught with issues, major props go to casting for the entire team of heroes, including its guest appearances. Robin's evolution to Nightwing is also a notable standout, even if it does come at the expense of the rest of the team.
