The Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It is one of the most celebrated entries in the franchise's canon, delivering seven seasons of new stories that please both fans and critics. The show, which was created by Dave Filoni has proven to be a major jumping point for many of the franchise's current storylines.

While many viewers know the intricate beauty of The Clone Wars and its artistic style, not everyone is familiar with the many voice actors that brought the show to life. With more and more of these characters being adapted to live-action with new actors in shows like The Book of Boba Fett, the talented voice cast of The Clone Wars deserves extra commendation for their hard work.

Sam Witwer

Darth Maul getting into fighting stance in Star Wars The Clone Wars

Although Ray Park and Peter Serafinowicz originated the role of Darth Maul in The Phantom Menace, it is the Clone Wars version of the former Sith apprentice that many fans fell in love with. First reintroduced in Season 4, years after his apparent death at the hands of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Maul would become responsible for some of  series' greatest arcs.

Throughout the remainder of the series, Sam Witwer acted as the voice of Maul, adding new dimensions to a previously rather one-note character. This depiction has become the definitive version of the character, with Witwer even returning to voice Maul at the end of Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Corey Burton

Cad Bane wars a big hat and aims his gun in Star Wars art.

Cad Bane is one of the foremost bounty hunters in the Star Wars franchise, first appearing in the season 1 finale of The Clone Wars. He quickly established himself as a villain that even the Jedi should fear, going on to be involved in several essential episodes of the series.

Bane was portrayed by veteran voice actor Corey Burton, who also voiced the Sith Lord Count Dooku on the series, alongside numerous other characters. However, it was with Cad Bane that Burton truly shone, developing a signature voice for the character that fans would later hear once more in live-action when the bounty hunter made a surprise appearance in the final two episodes of The Book of Boba Fett.

Terrence C. Carson

Mace Windu offers the droids a chance to stand down before he kills them in Star Wars the Clone Wars.

Mace Windu plays a crucial but sparing role in the animated anthology series, appearing occasionally alongside other Jedi Masters and occasionally headlining an episode or two of his own. The infamous Jedi Master's turbulent relationship with fellow Jedi Anakin Skywalker is explored further in the series, lending extra emotional weight to their dynamic in Revenge of the Sith.

Although Samuel L. Jackson returned to portray Mace Windu in the theatrically released film that acted as the pilot to The Clone Wars, voice actor Terrence C. Carson stepped in to portray the Jedi Master for the remainder of the series. Carson manages to capture much of Jackson's signature charm and personality in playing Windu while still managing to make the role his own over the course of seven seasons.

Nika Futterman

Asajj Ventress with her twin lightsabers in Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Asajj Ventress is one character from The Clone Wars who has never appeared in a live-action project, though her origins can be traced back to the 2003 animated Clone Wars series, which is no longer considered canon. Nevertheless, the new-and-improved take on Ventress paints her as a complicated villain who misguidedly serves the Separatist cause.

Actress Nika Futterman plays the part of Asajj Ventress perfectly, crafting a chilling voice worthy of a truly iconic villain but also managing to find notes of sympathy as the seasons progress. By the time that Ventress makes her last appearance in the series, she had become one of the most complicated characters in the franchise, thanks in part to Futterman's brilliant voice acting.

Matthew Wood

General Grievous and Separatist Droid Army in Star Wars Prequels

General Grievous and his droid army are an essential facet of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, acting as the primary antagonists throughout most of the series. The Battle Droids act as the principal footsoldiers of the Separatist Army, with General Grievous leading them under the command of Count Dooku, the Separatist leader.

Matthew Wood, a Hollywood sound editor and the voice of General Grievous in Revenge of the Sith returns to voice the droid leader in The Clone Wars. This time, he also lends his voice to the droids themselves, creating their distinctively different sound from the prequel trilogy. Wood appears in over 60 episodes of the celebrated series, bringing to life some of the most common antagonists in the show.

Tom Kane

Yoda Star Wars Clone Wars

The world of The Clone Wars would not be complete without the presence of Master Yoda, the oldest member of the Jedi Order at the time of the prequel trilogy and a favorite character among fans. Yoda appears in many episodes of the animated series, including the noted season 6 finale in which he uncovers the secret to manifesting one's consciousness in the Force after dying.

Yoda is portrayed throughout the series by prolific voice actor Tom Kane, who also portrays other important characters in the series, including iral Yularen. Not only does Kane provide a commanding voice to his principal characters in the series, but he also acts as the narrator for each episode's opening sequence, thereby appearing in all but one of the show's 133 episodes.

James Arnold Taylor

Kenobi ponders in Clone Wars

Obi-Wan Kenobi is undoubtedly one of the most memeable characters in Star Wars, whose presence in the Clone Wars massively impacted the galactic conflict. Kenobi is thereby one of the most frequently featured characters in the series, expanding the mythos of the beloved Jedi Master, including a famous arc that reveals the one woman for whom he would have left the Jedi Order.

Kenobi is voiced throughout The Clone Wars by the brilliant James Arnold Taylor, who additionally played the Jedi Master Plo Koon. Taylor accentuates the most notable aspects of Ewan McGregor's voice, creating a delightfully cartoony version of the fan-favorite character.

Matt Lanter

Anakin in Star Wars The Clone Wars Season 7 On Wings of Keerdaks

Anakin Skywalker is one of the most prominent characters in The Clone Wars, leading many of the show's most important arcs. The series mostly focuses on the relationship between Anakin and his new Padawan learner, Ahsoka Tano, whom he grows close to over the course of the show's history.

Matt Lanter portrays Anakin Skywalker throughout the series, providing a steadier, more amicable version of the character than the one depicted in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith. Lanter's portrayal proves decidedly nuanced, as his character slowly slips toward the Dark Side without even realizing it, portending his tragic fate by the series' end.

Ashley Eckstein

Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars The Clone Wars

Though many audience found Ahsoka Tano quite annoying in her early years, the Padawan quickly became a fan favorite character over the course of the series, becoming the de facto protagonist by the series finale. In the years since, Ahsoka has become involved in the very franchise.

Ahsoka Tano is famously portrayed by Ashley Eckstein in all of her animated appearances, including in a recurring role in The Rise of Skywalker, cementing her place in the franchise's history.

Dee Bradley Baker

Star Wars Clone Force 99 Captain Rex arrives back to base with Echo

Though The Clone Wars features numerous characters from the Star Wars movies, none are more important than the clones who make up the Grand Army of the Republic. Standout clones, like Captain Rex and Commander Cody, lead their brothers into battle against the droids, each becoming individual characters in their own right.

Dee Bradley Baker portrays each and every clone in The Clone Wars, lending his voice to dozens of distinct characters throughout the show's seven seasons. Baker proves his talent with each of these characters, making every clone feel distinct despite their identical features. Much to fans' delight, Baker has continued his collaboration with Lucasfilm, headlining the spinoff series The Bad Batch.
