When Star Wars Legends continuity, they’ll find that there is another ‘Last Skywalker’, one whose journey is decidedly different from that of Rey, Luke, or even Anakin. Indeed, this Skywalker went from Jedi to Sith to bounty hunter, and stands as perhaps the most badass member of his family.
Star Wars: Legacy (by John Ostrander and Jan Duursema) introduces fans to Cade Skywalker, whose story takes place in 137-138 ABY - which is the furthest in the future a Star Wars story has ever taken place, canon or Legends. Throughout the first volume of Star Wars: Legacy (which includes the grand finale miniseries: Star Wars: Legacy - War), fans see Cade wear a number of ‘hats’ in the Star Wars universe. As previously mentioned, Cade is a Jedi, a Sith, and a bounty hunter/pirate at different points in Star Wars: Legacy.
Cade Skywalker’s journey is indicative of the entire galaxy, as there are no longer purely good and purely evil sides, but rather an endless proverbial sea of gray. There is still an Emperor, but he isn’t a dictator like Palpatine was, and both the Sith and the Jedi were protected by a treaty that united the entire galaxy against the forces of the Yuuzhan Vong (until the Sith overstepped). There’s even a faction of Jedi that are firmly considered Gray Jedi, who only serve the Emperor unless he falls victim to dark side corruption.

Star Wars' New Era Must Embrace a Key Legends Transformation, And I Know You'll Agree
Star Wars is entering a new era & will introduce the New Jedi Council - here's why canon Star Wars should embrace the Council's Legends transformation
So, what does all this have to do with Cade? Well, it’s important to understand that the Star Wars universe in Star Wars: Legacy is not the same as it was in the prequel, original, or sequel trilogies. In the past, ‘good’ Force-s were Jedi, ‘bad’ Force-s were Sith, and ‘Empire’ was synonymous with evil. Things aren’t that simple in Star Wars: Legacy, which means the same is true for the journey of this Star Wars era’s greatest hero: Cade Skywalker.
Who Is Cade Skywalker? The Journey of Star Wars’ ‘Last Skywalker’, Explained
Cade Skywalker’s Journey is Different from Every Other Skywalker in Star Wars
Cade Skywalker is the son of Kol Skywalker, who once sat as a member of the Jedi Council in the New Jedi Order. Kol and his son, Cade, were direct descendants of Luke Skywalker (as opposed to Leia Organa and the Solo family line). As such, much was expected of them when it came to the duties of the New Jedi Order. Kol accepted these responsibilities without question, and he was training his son to do the same. However, everything changed when the One Sith attacked.
The One Sith - after corrupting of the Imperial Council - launches an assault against the Jedi, wiping out most of their numbers, including Kol Skywalker. Cade, who was just a youngling at the time, took to the stars after the assault on the Jedi Temple. However, he didn’t go to a secret Jedi safe haven like the other youngling survivors did, he went off on his own, and grew up in the galaxy’s seedy underworld. Cade Skywalker became a bounty hunter/pirate, until he came face-to-face with the One Sith yet again.

Star Wars Turned Way More of the Skywalker Clan Into Jedi Than You Realize
Every Star Wars fan knows the three most prominent Skywalkers: Anakin, Luke, and Rey - but fans might not know that they are far from the only ones!
Cade was captured by Darth Krayt and the Sith Lords who followed him, as Cade had the power to heal others with the Force, and Darth Krayt needed Cade to keep him alive. Rather than forcing him, Darth Krayt assigned Darth Talon to the task of seducing Cade to the dark side, and Cade briefly fell to that corruption. However, Cade eventually realized that Darth Krayt was his true enemy, and rejected the ways of the Sith. Cade began training in the light once again, and in the end, he defeated Krayt and saved the galaxy.
So, Which Did Cade Skywalker Choose In the End: Jedi, Sith, or Bounty Hunter?
Cade Skywalker Chooses a Path No Skywalker Had Before
Even though Cade went back to his Jedi ways after rejecting the teachings of the Sith, he ultimately did not re the Jedi Order. He used his Jedi training to defeat Krayt before the One Sith took over the galaxy, but after Krayt was beaten, Cade did the last thing any other Skywalker would do: chose to live his life as a bounty hunter. Other Skywalkers either chose the path of the Jedi or the Sith, but Star Wars’ ‘Last Skywalker’ charted his own path as a bounty hunter - which arguably makes him the most badass member of his family.
