Developer Respawn Entertainment has teased an exciting new game world for its currently-unannounced single-player title. Respawn is perhaps best known as the developer of frenetic FPS games including Apex Legends and the Titanfall series, and is currently working on a host of new Star Wars games, including the recently-revealed sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order, Jedi: Survivor.

More Star Wars video games are confirmed to be in development, including a real-time strategy game from Respawn Entertainment and Bit Reactor. There are very few details about the project, but it would be a great opportunity to finally deliver a sequel to Star Wars: Empire at War. Disney is busy expanding its new Star Wars canon, but a follow-up to Empire at War could offer fans an opportunity to explore more of the timeline during the original trilogy, or even provide a new perspective on the Galactic Empire's downfall.

Respawn Entertainment is currently working on three Star Wars games, including a real-time strategy title that should focus on Grand iral Thrawn, a master tactician who served the Empire during the Star Wars Rebels animated series. Despite the many options for eras in the canon Star Wars timeline that Respawn has available, iral Thrawn and the Galactic Empire represent a critical storytelling period for the franchise. The Galactic Civil War period still evokes nostalgia in Star Wars fans today, and its evolution with modern series and games ensures the era’s continued relevance. Previous Star Wars RTS games have also utilized the era, but none with the charismatic Chiss at the helm.

The recently-announced Star Wars FPS game from Respawn Entertainment is likely to be the best-looking Star Wars shooter to date if a job posting requesting experience with Unreal Engine 5 is any indication. The latest version of the software, like every iteration before it, looks to push forward graphics capabilities, and with technological advancements happening all the time, a game like this one, just announced and likely early in development, should be able to take full advantage of all the engine offers.

A Respawn dev has confirmed that Titanfall 3 is not happening, despite the many rumors and wishes of fans. Both of the Titanfall titles were critically acclaimed, but unfortunately, EA and developer Respawn never officially pursued Titanfall 3. Respawn has since shifted focus to VR titles, Apex Legends, and Star Wars games, meaning Titanfall as a proper series is essentially on the backburner.

The series has seen renewed interest in recent months thanks to the success of its spin-off Apex Legends, with a Titanfall 2 free Steam weekend bringing record numbers of players to the sequel almost five years after it officially launched.

A recent job listing suggests that Respawn Entertainment’s newest game might be a single-player RPG. Founded by former Infinity Ward architects Jason West and Vince Zampella in 2010, Respawn has since made a name for itself thanks to hit titles like Titanfall 2, Apex Legends, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, even being bought out by EA in 2017.
