The terrifying puppets that attack in My Friendly Neighborhood are always a threat that can be defeated with various guns, including a short-range Shotgun called the Novelist. This weapon makes short work of these violent kid-show mascots, which will come in handy later in the game. Although the Shotgun takes up tons of room in your Toolbox, the strength of its shots makes it worth carrying around.

There was some skepticism going into My Friendly Neighborhood; the "evil kids entertainment mascots" genre has surprisingly become oversaturated in recent years due to the popularity of Five Nights at Freddy's. That issue could be one reason why My Friendly Neighborhood received little buzz during its lead up to launch, and that's truly a shame, because it provides a polished and engaging experience.

The new horror game from developers John and Evan Szymanski was first announced during last year’s Realms Deep 2021 event. The game bears some resemblance to the Five Nights at Freddy’s series. However, My Friendly Neighborhood takes a different direction with its gameplay that sets it apart.

A new look at the horror title My Friendly Neighborhood depicts the game as a unique blend between Sesame Street and Resident Evil. The indie title comes from publisher Dread XP and will eventually launch on Steam, though as of now no release date has been announced.My Friendly Neighborhood was revealed during the Realms Deep 2021 event and is a survival horror game set in the abandoned studio of a Sesame Street-like show, where the forgotten puppets are coming to life. The player takes on the role of a handyman named Gordon. He is sent to repair an antenna on top of the studio's main building, which the city believes is malfunctioning and sending out old episodes of the show "The Friendly Neighborhood." Szymanski has been hinting at the project over the past eight months through his social media and now gamers can finally get a look at what is to come thanks to a new trailer. My Friendly Neighborhood is a non-linear FPS with many similar mechanics and gameplay functionalities to the Capcom franchise. While the Steam description indicates there will be more unique weapons in the game, the reveal trailer only showcases one called the Rolodexer, which is a firearm that uses a literal Rolodex as ammo.It will be interesting to see if My Friendly Neighborhood can generate as much interest as Five Nights at Freddy's, especially now that the creator of that franchise has retired. If it can, then that might signal the rise of a new, niche horror genre of cute, childhood characters becoming murderous. Even though Five Night's at Freddy's has been around since 2014, there have been very few games with a similar feel that are simultaneously different enough to make them stand out.
