There are quite a few rumors that Injustice 3 is in the works, after developer Netherrealm Studios and publisher Warner Bros. Games released Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition last week, presumably ending major content updates to that game. A lot of fans were holding out hope that more missing MK characters would make their way to the game in the future. Netherrealm Studios' next game may have just been leaked by a pretty reliable dataminer, and it's not Mortal Kombat. After these recent leaks, it's looking like another installment in the DC Comics fighting game series, Injustice, may not be far away. Mortal Kombat 1: Definitive Edition was released last week, and it is presumably the end of content updates for MK1, featuring all the currently available DLC characters, Kameos, the Khaos Reigns story mode expansion, and more. It seems like NRS has moved on to its next project and is taking a break from MK.

It seems Lucasfilm is sitting on an idea for an Injustice-style series where a classic Star Wars character turns evil. In the past, before George Lucas sold Lucasfilm to Disney, Star Wars' Expanded Universe of books and comics had non-canonical stories that were just for fun, reimagining and exploring alternate versions of the galaxy far, far away in some really fascinating ways.
