Watson and Moriarty come face-to-face in new images from the Watson season 1 finale, with the pair finally crossing paths with one another. The cast of Watsonincludes a number of familiar faces from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's original Sherlock Holmes works, modernized for the medical mystery series' new take. One of these is Moriarty (Randall Park), who was has been a thorn in Watson's (Morris Chestnut) side since the death of Sherlock (Matt Berry). This has included a blackmail scheme involving Dr. Ingrid Derian (Eve Harlow).

New images from Watson season 1 reveal a first look at John's new love interest, who is set to be introduced in the two-part season finale. The cast of Watsonincludes a multitude of memorable characters, from Morris Chestnut's titular clinical geneticist, to his team of doctors. This includes Ingrid Derian (Eve Harlow), Stephens and Adam Croft (Peter Mark Kendall), Shinwell Johnson (Ritchie Coster), and Mary Morstan (Rochelle Aytes). Mary in particular is the main character's estranged wife, who he still has some feelings for, but that hasn't resulted in anything permanent.

Sherlock Holmes continues to be one of the most frequently adapted characters in all of literature. Created by British author Arthur Conan Doyle, the fictional detective has been adapted to the screen countless times over the years. Some of the most recent iterations include Guy Ritchie's 2009 film Sherlock Holmes and its 2011 sequel, subtitled A Game of Shadows, starring Robert Downey Jr. in the titular role. On television, one of the most popular adaptations is the BBC series Sherlock, which released 13 episodes from 2010 to 2017 starring Benedict Cumberbatch as a modern version of the character.

Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes books have been adapted countless times, but the best adaptations of the 21st century all have one surprising trait in common. Sherlock Holmes has remained one of the world's most famous detectives for over a century now, and it's partly due to the fact that there have been so many modern TV and film adaptations of Sherlock's stories. From the multiple shows inspired by Sherlock Holmes, like Monk and House, to more direct modernizations, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's work seems immortal. Not every Sherlock Holmes adaptation is made equal, however.

CBS reveals the season finale dates for many of their shows, including NCIS, Tracker, Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, and multiple series finales. The finales for CBS' TV lineup mostly consist of season finales, alongside the curtain call for a multitude of series that were popular staples of the network for quite some time. This includes S.W.A.T. season 8, which is the last for the show despite being saved after season 6. However, some shows, like Fire Country and The Equalizer, will be expanding with new spinoffs later down the road.

The leading star ofYoung Sherlock discusses the pressure of playing a younger version of Sherlock Holmes. The Prime Video television series, based on Andy Lane's Young Sherlock Holmes novels, has tapped Hero Fiennes Tiffin to portray the 19-year-old Sherlock. Guy Ritchie, who has previously directed two Sherlock Holmes movies starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, is attached as a director and executive producer.

The CW has set its official premiere date for the series Sherlock & Daughter. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's detective franchise has seen numerous adaptations over the years, including the Guy Ritchie film Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey Jr. and the BBC series Sherlock. The CW's entry into the IP will see David Thewlis step in to play the iconic detective and Blu Hunt a young American, Amelia. The series will follow the duo, who work to solve the case of Amelia's mother's murder, while Amelia also seeks to prove Sherlock is her long-lost father.

Even if Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law’s Sherlock Holmes 3 movie does not happen, Guy Ritchie’s new Young Sherlockseries could be the next best thing. Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes movies, featuring Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock and Jude Law as Watson, were both commercially successful and received mostly positive critical responses. However, 14 years after the second film's release in 2011, Sherlock Holmes 3remains in development hell, and it currently looks unlikely that Guy Ritchie will complete his Sherlock Holmes trilogy.

With a new cast and creator carrying on the Sherlock Holmes torch on the network, Lucy Liu is addressing the chances of an Elementaryrevival on CBS. The show, which ran from 2012-19, served as a modern-day update on Arthur Conan Doyle's iconic private detective, seeing him having to live with Dr. Joan Watson as she works as his sober companion following a stay in rehab, with Watson reluctantly ing him on his investigations. Jonny Lee Miller and Liu led the Elementary cast as Sherlock and Watson, with the show praised throughout its run for its writing, character development and performances.
