A new Ghost Rider concept trailer sees Ryan Gosling the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the iconic comic book hero. As the MCU timeline has been introducing numerous heroes and villains through The Multiverse Saga, one fan-favorite many are waiting to see come to the big screen is Ghost Rider. Despite having the character rights back, Marvel Studios has yet to utilize Ghost Rider in their MCU films.

Keanu Reeves makes for the perfect Ghost Rider in new Marvel Cinematic Universe art. Reeves is one of Hollywood's most beloved stars. Despite never having played a live-action Marvel hero, he has done so for DC. In fact, Reeves is set to return in the near future as John Constantine for Constantine 2. However, since that is a one-off, the role would not block him from ing the MCU's slate of projects as Ghost Rider. Since he has a personal connection to the character, as Reeves revealed Ghost Rider was his childhood dream Marvel role, his casting would be exciting.

Akihiro was recently possessed (and resurrected) by the demon Bagra-Ghul, transforming him into a Ghost Rider-like antihero, Hellverine. While that alone establishes a strong connection between Akihiro and Mephisto, it’s just been revealed that their connection is much deeper than that.

Marvel has revealed a new detail about the Ghost Rider’s Penance Stare that recontextualizes the character’s most iconic ability, like a page out of Naruto. For decades, the Penance Stare has been described to reflect every sinful action and the pain one has caused others upon themselves. The victim’s pain is the penance for their sins. But this lore expansion reveals that the Penance Stare is more akin to Itachi Uchiha’s Tsukuyomi.
