As Legendary's Monsterverse has continued to expand, many new monsters have been introduced, along with several new locations hiding underneath the surface of the world, known collectively as the Hollow Earth. The Hollow Earth realms are the home to different species of flora and fauna, and operate under different rules of physics in some instances. The Hollow Earth Theory was first mentioned in 2017's Kong: Skull Island and ever since, each subsequent movie and TV show has ventured deeper into the mysterious territory.

In Godzilla vs. Kong, Kong's appearance has matured significantly since Kong: Skull Island, reflecting his journey from adolescence to a seasoned titan, but it has led to speculation over how old Kong is. Despite being younger than many MonsterVerse titans, his weathered visage and demeanor speak to a life of hardship and survival. Previously depicted as the last of his kind battling Skullcrawlers in the 1970s in Kong: Skull Island, Kong has grown, both physically and experientially, bearing the scars of past conflicts and the wisdom gained from them.

The Godzilla vs Kong soundtrack has only a few songs that aren't instrumental scores, infusing some popular music into the monster mayhem, with some even having thematic undertones. Adam Wingard's Godzilla vs Kong was the build up of the cinematic universe known as the MonsterVerse, with the much anticipated showdown between the two iconic beasts. Godzilla Minus One director Takashi Yamazaki offers his for Adam Wingard's Monsterverse sequel Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire with a short review of the fellow kaiju feature. The director of Toho's celebrated 2023 feature created an installment that explored the kaiju's emergence in post-World War II Japan and its lasting effect on a traumatized fighter pilot. Meanwhile, Wingard's 2024 installment continues from Godzilla vs. Kong, as the two monsters are forced to unite against a new threat from a realm hidden below the Earth's surface that threatens humankind.

Over the years, the Monsterverse has provided a great understanding of the Hollow Earth world and the original Titan home of the two monsters. Originally mentioned as a theory devised by Dr. Houston Brooks to explain how Titans remain hidden in Kong: Skull Island, the Hollow Earth has evolved into the centerpiece of Godzilla and Kong's cinematic universe. And based on how integral the concept has been to each story since, it's sure to be developed further as the Monsterverse continues through projects like Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire.
