Cult of Chucky ups the ante for the Child's Play franchise by introducing multiple dolls and new powers, and it has a wild ending. This is also a case of how not all direct-to-video movies are bad because 2013's Curse of Chucky and 2017's Cult of Chucky are some of the best in their franchise. Keeping Child's Play afloat is the continued guidance of Don Mancini, creator of the property and writer of all seven films in the original series. Mancini has also directed Seed, Curse, and Cult of Chucky, although he had nothing to do with 2019's MGM's remake.

The Child's Play franchise is packed with actors who have played dual roles — a trend that has continued to great effect in the Chucky TV show. Created by Don Mancini, the character of Chucky leaped to slasher icon status in 1988. Directed by Tom Holland (not that one), the original Child's Play film centered around a serial killer named Charles Lee Ray, who survived death by transferring his soul into a doll. He then spent the movie murderously trying to return to a human form by co-opting the body of Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent).

Chucky has taken many forms throughout the long-running Child's Play series, and here's each version explained. The infamous killer doll has had quite a journey from his origins in the 1988 slasher that started it all. More than three decades later, Chucky has taken center stage in six sequels, one reboot, and an television SYFY TV series.

The  Child's Play TV show, Chucky, has been confirmed to pick up after the events of Cult of Chucky. Don Mancini's 2017 Chucky movie was the second of two installments that had direct-to-video releases. Mancini directed Curse of Chucky in 2013, which acted as a soft reboot and re-introduced Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent) in the post-credits scene. Cult of Chucky continued that storyline, focusing on Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif) after Chucky framed her for killing her family and was sent to a mental hospital.

Fiona Dourif is returning to the Child's Playuniverse in the TV show Chucky. Aside from being the daughter of Brad Dourif, the voice of Chucky, Fiona Dourif has played a crucial role in the last two films from director Don Mancini. Curse of Chucky was originally thought to be a reboot of the Child's Play franchise but ended up being a sequel focusing on a new character, Nica Pierce. Nica was framed for the murder of her family by Chucky at the end ofher first film, and by the end of Cult of Chucky, Chucky managed to transfer his soul into her.

A legion of fans would love nothing more than for Hannibal season 4 to happen, and that includes Child's Play's resident killer doll Chucky. When a TV series revolving around author Thomas Harris' iconic cannibal serial killer Hannibal Lecter was first announced, many fans were skeptical about its prospects. This skepticism increased tenfold when Hannibal was picked up by NBC. After all, how could a show on one of the big four broadcast networks possibly do Dr. Lecter justice? It turns out, those fears were unwarranted.

When it comes to horror movies, Chucky is right up their next to Freddy, Jason, and Michael. The first Child’s Playmovie was released in 1988 from director Tom Holland. The film introduced a killer doll named Chucky, who came to life after a serial killer used dark magic to transfer his soul into a Good Guys doll.
