Destination X contestant Jonah Evarts was the second competitor to be eliminated from the show, and I was glad to see him go because he wasn't cut out for the game. Jonah, an English teacher from Manhattan, Kansas, left Destination X season 1 after he incorrectly guessed that he and his fellow contestants--Biggy Bailey, Ally Bross, Kim Conner, Shayne Cureton, Mack Fitzgerald, Tai Lowry, Rachel Rossette, and Rick Szabo--were in Bern, Switzerland, when they were actually in Geneva. Jonah was the second contestant to leave the game after Big Brother winner and The Challenge star Josh Martinez.

Throughout his short time on Destination X season 1, I noticed that Jonah struggled with all aspects of the game, including knowledge of the geography and culture of Europe, as well as the cutthroat social manipulation. While he was a sweet guy, I believe that he wasn't a good fit for Destination X because he was so uncomfortable playing the game. Here's why I'm glad that Jonah was eliminated after guessing the wrong location in the Map Room.

Destination X Contestant Jonah Evarts Had Limited Knowledge About Europe

Jonah Had To Rely On Others To Decipher Clues

I found it frustrating that Jonah sold himself short from Destination X season 1 episode 1, and it wasn't an act to trick his fellow competitors into believing that he wasn't a threat. He told them, "You all seem really smart and competent. And I am a little bit intimidated that I'm gonna be the worst person here." Although Jonah solved most of the clues about Italy at the end of the first episode, his performance in the second one proved that he didn't have the knowledge about Switzerland necessary to succeed in the game.

I'm so bamboozled by this.

I was surprised at the beginning of Destination X season 1 episode 2 when Jonah said that the fact that he thought that were going South from Rome based on the position of the sun meant nothing to him. I was even more shocked when he laughed as he said in his confessional, "I think we might be in the Alps, purely because it's the only mountain range that I know." As the contestants tried to decipher the clues from the first challenge, Jonah said, "I'm so bamboozled by this."

When Kim chose Jonah to go to the Map Room, I was disappointed to see that he had no idea where Destination X was. He told his fellow competitors, "My brain has been fried thinking about this." Later, Ally and Shayne asked him if he was okay after Kim's comment that he was the weakest player, to which he replied, "The reason it hurt is 'cause, like, it's kind already what I think. I feel like I miss stuff."

I don't understand how it's possible that Jonah could go on to a show like Destination X without a strong knowledge base of European geography. I found it frustrating to see him repeatedly declare that he had no idea where they were. He seemed to be aware of his limitations in the game, and it bothered him, but, I guess that by the time he realized that he wasn't prepared to compete on Destination X, it was too late.

Jonah Was Reluctant To Throw His Fellow Destination X Competitors Under The Bus

Jonah Was Uncomfortable With The Social Aspect Of The Game

Before he had to play in the second challenge, in which he knew that he'd probably have to put someone up for elimination, Jonah was a wreck, and said, "I hate this." He said in his confessional, "I am not good at backstabbing or playing cutthroat. Not knowing what's going to happen in that room ... it scares the s*** out of me." Although Jonah laughed as he said this, his behavior during the challenge showed that he was very uncomfortable having to throw one of his fellow competitors under the bus.

"I Didn't Trust Myself": Destination X's Josh Martinez Opens Up About A Brutal First Round Exit

Destination X's Josh Martinez came into the competition ready for a battle, but after failing to trust his gut, he fell into the first boot trap.

Jonah told host Jeffrey Dean Morgan that he was feeling "pretty nervous" when he started the challenge. He noticed that his name was on the chopping block, but I was floored when he said, "My name's up there? If I move it, it means I'm putting someone else in there. And I really don't want to do that." Jeffrey told him to where he was and the game that he was playing. He reminded him that he was competing for a quarter of a million dollars.

My name's up there? If I move it, it means I'm putting someone else in there. And I really don't want to do that.

Jonah then said in his confessional that he was good at patterns, and he was able to five out of ten of the bell patterns in order to save himself. Jonah then chose to switch himself with Mack and stated, "I know everyone else would do it. I have to save myself. I'm gonna put Mack in there." He explained that he thought that she had "a decent chance of staying safe either way." Jonah added, "But I feel extremely guilty moving Mack out of there." When he left the room, Jeffrey said, "We gotta toughen that kid up."

Before he went into the Map Room, Jonah said that, even if he stayed, he could be the reason someone else went home, and that wasn't a good feeling either. He was too concerned about the other players.

I agree with Jeffrey that Jonah needed a much thicker skin in order to play a game like Destination X. The fact that he'd even consider not trying to put someone in his place in the Map Room was preposterous to me. Even if he was just saying that he didn't want to do it, but would've anyway, I don't understand why he'd put the feelings of people he'd just met above his own opportunity to win $250,000. I feel that Jonah should never have signed up to play Destination X in the first place if he wasn't willing to do what it took to win. He was simply too nice.

Jonah Was Easily Manipulated By His Fellow Destination X Competitors

Jonah Believed Ally Bross & Made A Wrong Guess Because Of It

When Kim and Rick earned the right to swap some names in the challenge, Kim decided to put Jonah into the Map Room because she said that "he lets everyone know he has no clue. I definitely think he should go." Kim later said in front of the group that she thought that Jonah was "the weakest player." In his confessional, Jonah shared, "To have Kim just lay it all out like that definitely stung a little bit, and I'm afraid that makes people wary of sharing information with me."

To have Kim just lay it all out like that definitely stung a little bit, and I'm afraid that makes people wary of sharing information with me.

Later, Ally tricked Jonah into believing that Destination X was Bern, Switzerland, even though she knew that the correct answer was Geneva. He told Ally and Shayne, "I have no clue where we're going. I don't know." Shayne told him that they were in Switzerland, and Ally added that Bern was the capital of the country. I was bothered when Jonah told them, "I cannot thank you enough. I had no clue," because it showed how naive he really was. It also proved that he had to rely on others because he didn't know enough about Europe.

I was disappointed when, in his confessional, Jonah cried as he said, "I guess I thought people would see me as a liability. I thought people were gonna, like, kinda stay away from me. So having Shayne and Ally actually back me up and wanna work with me is really affirming." I couldn't believe that he so blindly trusted them, and that he seemed to have no idea that they might've been manipulating him, especially after Rick incorrectly told Josh that they were in Milan instead of Rome in the previous challenge.

Destination X: Rachel Rossette's Age, Job, Instagram & More

Destination X's Rachel Rossette has a backstory that's as interesting as the new reality show she's appearing on. Learn all about Rachel here.

After he incorrectly guessed Bern, Jonah cried as he left the bus, and, unlike Josh, who called out Rick for telling him the wrong answer before his elimination, he told his fellow competitors that he was going to miss them. I felt so bad for Jonah when Jeffrey told him that it was Mack and not Ally, who guessed the second-farthest location from Geneva.

Jonah was completely shocked and said, "I thought Ally and I were on the same page about where we were putting our Xs. But, you know, it's a game, and maybe I got just a little outplayed there." Jeffrey agreed and said, "You definitely got Bern-ed." Jonah then laughed as Jeffrey said, "Let me explain to you how these reality games work, man." However, I didn't think that it was funny because he already should've known. Jonah was so gullible in the game, and he couldn't figure out the social aspect of it at all. I felt like he wasted a spot for someone who actually would've played harder.

Jonah Didn't Have The Personality To Compete In Destination X

The Game Broke Jonah

During the first challenge of Destination X season 1 episode 2, I was surprised to see Jonah it in his confessional that the game was so challenging for him. He said, "The nature of this game is brutal. It's really targeting my weak points. This is one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life." Kim even pointed out that he wasn't cut out for the game, and that it was stressful for him, and I couldn't have agreed more. I think that Jonah didn't have the personality to play Destination X, and the game broke him.

The nature of this game is brutal. It's really targeting my weak points. This is one of the hardest things I've ever done in my life.

I don't understand why Jonah was cast in Destination X in the first place. He didn't have enough knowledge about Europe to succeed in the challenges, and he didn't have the demeanor to play a strong social game. It was hard to watch him get manipulated by Ally because he was so desperate to form an alliance. Despite this, I really liked Jonah, so I was relieved to see him leave the game because it was detrimental to his emotional well-being, and I think that he probably felt the same way. Jonah was an endearing and kind person, but he simply wasn't cut out to be a Destination X competitor.

Destination X airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. EDT on NBC.
